The Evelina

The Evelina Children's Hospital is London's first new children's hospital for more than 100 years.

Originally founded by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild and opened in June 1869, The Evelina Children’s Hospital has recently moved to its new location, with themed floors, a conservatory, rooms with views, sunlight and fresh air.

It has been designed with children and their families in mind. The 140-bed hospital, which is based on the St Thomas's Hospital site, brings the majority of Guy's and St Thomas's children's services together under one roof.

It was designed by Hopkins Architects and has been dubbed 'a hospital unlike any other'. It was funded by a grant of £50 million from Guy's and St Thomas's Charity and £10 million from the NHS.

Recently short listed as one of the finalists for the 2006 RIBA Stirling Prize, Martek’s scope of works included the fit out of all of the ward areas, the design and development of a double sided partition system which encloses all patient / clinical services including technical monitoring equipment, AVI PatientLine and a drop down dependant’s bed.Martek also fitted out the Evelina School, the pharmacy facilities and the Beach level catering area.
