Formally a UGC site; Cinworld Cardiff can be found in the heart of the City centre. The 15-screen cinema is spread across five floors each of which can be accessed by escalators and lifts; the modern building provides fantastic views across Cardiff through floor to ceiling glass windows, the building itself has an unusual design and has been argued by many to resemble various different things including an open book, a butterfly and a bird!

Martek have worked with Cine UK since their first location in Stevenage and have helped it become the UK’s fastest growing multiplex operator.
Due to originally being part of the UGC chain prior to the takeover by Cineworld in 2005, the décor in Cardiff was in need of a “Cineworld revamp”. Martek have been helping with the refurbishment schedule across many of the former UGC sites as they undergo the Cineworld rebrand.

The main concession counter on level 1 houses the largest screens and receives   the most footfall as customers stock up on drinks, popcorn and snacks to enjoy during their film.

Martek planned works in two phases to completely strip out the existing self-service concession and separate till point area and install a brand new long concession counter to include a new Ben & Jerry’s.

It was vital that there was minimum disruption to customers throughout the duration of the refurbishment; a hording was installed and a temporary counter was built backing onto the existing storeroom so concession items were still made available. Future plans involve refurbishments to the third floor.
