Ferro Design were originally tasked with providing designs to refresh the existing servery and to introduce a new coffee bar to this head office site in Buckinghamshire.

The existing facility was looking tired and dated and in need of refreshing. The building itself has a strong Architectural element with the staff restaurant situated within the central atrium space at the heart of the building.

Ferro Designs aim was to work sympathetically with the existing structure whilst trying to introduce warmth and interest to the space and to create the feeling of rooms within rooms. The client was very satisfied with the outline designs and Martek were brought on board as the preferred contractor to work on cost and value engineering and to turn the design intent in to a reality. Proposals were submitted to the client in June 2004, detailed design completed in August, contracts were placed in September with successful completion of the project in December 2004.

As the project progressed, the client increased the scope and the restaurant seating area, a business lounge and the mammoth task of designing and incorporating a glass sliding door system within the atrium was introduced. Ferro sketched up the design intent for the doors and Martek pulled together a team of specialists including a structural engineer, steelwork manufacturer, glass door manufacturer, lighting designer and tensile sail fabricator. Due to the heavy duty nature of the installation, this took place over 4 days when the building was shut for Christmas. The completed project went on to win an Association of Interior Specialists Design Award in 2006.

Our works included manufacturing bespoke joinery, specialist metal fabrication, internal decorations, new flooring, new ceilings and lighting in the servery, provision of new catering equipment. The entire project fit-out cost £190k with an additional £92k for the atrium door project.
